@citrustwee okay so what happened was Ireland was an agricultural colony of England at the time. they weren't allowed to grow their own food and were forced to grow potatoes as a cash crop to be exported to the empire. obviously a lot of people starved and its iffy its seen as a famine considering it was planned. it's why so many Irish people moved to the United States
