@Aleums so did you read this directly from my job description or did you just read my soul,

@LucasTheDrgn I'm reading this from all the places I'm applying to 🙃

@Aleums @LucasTheDrgn I was unemployed for a year. I hear this so hard.

Especially the place where I contracted at near the beginning of my career that wouldn't even give me an interview because I couldn't do their math and reading comprehnsion test to their satisfaction.

And yet I think they were still using some of the software that I had developed for them.

It's a nice little gut punch.

@craigmaloney @LucasTheDrgn thanks so much for the support, I'm holding onto hope for now but I really don't think I could do this for a whole year.

@Aleums @LucasTheDrgn I understand. Just remember that you're still valuable no matter what the market might think. They don't get to decide who you are.

@Aleums i once interviewed for a "junior web designer" position that required "knowledge of html & css", and for the interview they sat me down with a laptop and asked me to write a complete mySQL interface in 30 minutes.

@Aleums it turned out they were basically a money-laundering company too so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@tobinalex @Aleums galaxy brain take incoming

all companies are money laundering companies, taking stolen labor value and making it nice and legal for the bosses to spend

@applebaps @Aleums that's a good take! this one was specifically the type of money laundering company of which there exists hidden-camera interviews conducted by investigative journalists.

You forgot to mention the salary, which is slightly less than it is possible to live on.
