@polychrome @Adoxographer The fact that college is so high makes me fear that there isn't room in the economy for a lot of skilled workers, and people who can't afford education will just get left behind.
But I think I must be wrong on that, because there's tons of STEM people coming out of other countries - Those countries must have cheaper college, huh?
So the US has a chance to compete but is screwing it up.

@Adoxographer What does it mean that Average Hourly Wages is "more expensive"? Just that wages have increased on average? I'd like to see a graph that takes that into account for the other lines. (E.g. does that mean that food and beverage have actually gotten *cheaper* as a proportion of income?)
I'm also not sure how to read this given that it's apparently not inflation-adjusted.
